The birdcage allowed the brakeman / guard to look along the length of the train from an internal weather protected platform.
Lots of detail inside and out. External framing, internal raised platform, brake wheel and pedestal, planking, bolt detail, separate doors and iron work. Comes with everything need to complete but glue and paint. Ideal for freight running or in mixed rural trains.
Standard kit comes with Binnie Nylon Axleboxes on a straight chassis rail.
The enhanced highly detailed chassis and axle box option swaps the standard nylon axleboxes for sealed miniature ball bearings races for smooth running, no maintenance and more detail, including outline brake gear and brake blocks.
